More Yaktribe goodness and a red mechanic

A little more work on my Yaktribe entry this week, mainly on Little Smiley the Ogryn and Mr Verkehr of the South Sump Syndicate.

When last you saw these two, they werent accompanied by the gentleman with the rather long rifle, but they had something much like this lack of all things resonably pigment related.

Little Smiley then got a bit of a going over in the basecoat department, his colours were quite limited and rather plain, showing his lowly station and simple nature.

Soon enough he got a snazzy hair color and some shading to his clothing, this stage was my favorite.

Here, i think I made a mistake. I personally think I took him too dark. Not 100% sure, but I may strip him and start again.

Next up is Verkehr. Hes a really plan and unassuming looking bloke, his uniform was really simple and I just wanted something easy to recognise in the masses of the underhive.

The "S" in the cog will be the symbol for the Syndicate.

Started washing him here, he looks a lilittle better with some definition in the face I think.
And here he is a bit later on, chilling with my new and improved Skitarii maniple leader Metalus Octus.

There is still a lot of detailing to do on them all, but I think it's a good start so far.

Also, here is another shot of that fellow from earlier with the rather long rifle. and a friend for him.

These will be the final 2 for the protective detail, unless I have a heap of time left before the end of the month and can add some more to the group. He is a FW renegade guardsman torso, some guard bits and a rifle from the beautiful new Skitarii kit. If you don't have at least one box of these yet, GET ONE RIGHT NOW!!!!! There are so many cool bits and pieces in that kit, the heads alone are worth their weight in precious, precious Unobtainium.

So, there's lots more to do, but it's coming along.
THere are already a bunch of awesome entries showing up, so if you haven't checked Yaktribe out yet, GET ON IT!!!

Until next time, keep on keepin on.

First Son

The first of the Fabled Son cultists.

I don't know how he eats either. Or shoots with any accuracy, for that matter

Again, not great photos. I need a better camer and the time to use it! It gives you a feel at least.

I can't say I'm all that happy. He's missing something. Something to make him pop. Or I could be trying too hard for something that he doesn't need, him being nothing more than a low-level cultist. I think I'll put him aside for a while and see what comes to me. Suggestions welcome.

Game 2: Muties Gone Wild

We played our second full game of Inquisitor today. We're still working out the rules (rules last remember) but I think everybody had fun.

Before the shooting

Sam's ( mechanicus and squat inquisitor and Dean's hillbilly muties duked it out over the right to capture an astropath that had been having strange dreams and prescient visions. Zen and I took control of Astropath Killan and some tank crew under his mind control. In the end the muties dragged the squat, astropath and the mechanicus back to their lair. What they are planning to do with them is best not thought about. (If you have seen Diliverance you'll have a pretty good idea though)

A tanker in the thrall of the astropath Killan advances under the nose of the inquisitor

The muties move in on the mechanicus before he (it?) realises that naval guns are not guns in the belly button or actually all that good.

The next game looks set to be a rescue mission with Sam vowing to bring out the big guns to get back his boys.

Did I miss anything, guys?

If anyone is interested this is the lead up text that I sent out before the game:

My Lord,
I have sent you this message as part of our pre-existing agreement. I hope that it reflects well on me in your eyes and goes some way in redeeming me.

I have been tasked with putting down the vile Quintine backed rebellion on Levant. In that capacity I am in command of the Omer 5/10th Amoured Company. In recent days my informers have been appraising me the strange condition of the units attached astropath. (As I’m sure you know, all Omer regiments now have an astropth assigned by order of the Omer Defence Squad to facilitate a speedy recall in case of another tyranid attack on that world) The astropath in question, Ty Bannor Killan, has been experiencing prescient dreams and is said to be manifesting elements from these in the waking world. His condition is thought to be worsening.

I have ordered the Omer 5/10th, and Killan, away from the fighting and are currently enroute to Bakresh and the off-world port there. At your request I will apprehend Killan and forward him to you.

Your humble servant,

General (primus) Duke Tollmesh Sol of Shile

+++Inq notes+++ My Lord: the rebellion on Levant does not seem to be of Quintine origin. It appears to be an internal Shileite conflict that Sol is not privy to. It could be speculated that the conflict is aimed at Sol himself but, as of yet, there have been no evidence to that effect. The cause of Killan’s disorder is unknown but probably unlinked to the Levantine conflict or our primary quarry. I would advise your Lordship to take up Sol’s offer and take the astropath into our custody. It is surely better that he is destroyed than fall into the Sun’s (or Son’s) hands or worse into the hands of an inquisitorial rival. --KP +++

The scenario had three tankers come on from one table edge with the astropath secretly with one of them. As the players came close to the tankers they made a Sg tests to detect where the astropath was. The tankers by themselves were just taken out of play once he was found.

Terrain. Now with minis!

Evening y'all.

A bit more action on the hobby front at the moment, with A WARBAND ALMOST DONE!!

THere is a bunch of work to do on the greenstuff, nut im pretty happy with the way these guys (and girl and thing) are coming along.

The following are my WIP warband, Name Unknown. I know, it's a rather original title!

There are a pair of inquisitors, In my mind theyre a couple of sorts. The gentleman being an Ordos Hereticus type and his lovely partner being a rather cold Ordos Xenos gal with an unhealthy attatchment to the Dark Eldar.

If I were my girlfriend, I would hate my hobby too.

By the power of Greyskull, it has been far too darn long since I have had a chance to slap some plastic together and even longer since i last painted anything.

SO I DID BOTH!!!

After crying myself to sleep for several hours after seeing the work coming out of Beneath The Mires very own Drone, I have finally gotten my butt into something that almost looked like a gear and made up a Feral Ork buddy for old Captain Dakka!

So there is a bunch left to do on him, the layering and highlights for example, but hes a good start for me.

I'm not a very motivated painter, but when i get in a mood like I am now, I can churn out a model a day to a tournament standard.
I got this guy done in a few hours, but I have to do his base still, its sitting on my warzone like desk at the moment, as I am using it to balance a rather delicate warshrine for my Warriors Of Chaos army.

I'm tempted to give him Warpaint and the like, I'm thinking a crude snake and dagger motif, those Snakebite tattoos from the old school Rogue Trader books really excite me.

So that's it from me for the night, it's 2:32 am and I have a feeling that I'm supposed to do something in the morning with my poor girlfriend who has had to put up with me muttering to myself about how the hell I paint bone. I know it has something to do with earthshade and Deneb stone.

The "Major"

Few people are better suited to constant war than "Major" Torsten Kurst. Seeming born to armed conflict, he came to Inquisitor Klein's notice, and eventually service, as the brutal teenaged leader of the Order of the Broken Nose, a mercenary warband fighting for the highest bidder in the Scripture Wars on Hamlin.

This model is really a copy of Migsala's great legion operatives over at Legion of Plastic. (http://legionofplastic.blogspot.com.au/)

Better Pictures

I have a nice new camera so these are much better pics. More soon. Maybe in some terrain for context ;-)

I'm really pleased with the feel of Klein and the Penitent, they have a bit of the 'Blanche' madness that I wanted but don't quite go far enough. I need to be bolder and just make 'em nuts.

I'm thinking a imperial navy/ rogue trader boarding party next.

In His name

Inquisitor Varro Klein: Veteran inquisitor and expert in non-human languages, particularly eldar standard and its dialects. Has spent most of the last hundred years studying and writing, and has only recently returned to active operations for unknown reasons. Feels that he must prove himself and his theories after so long on the sidelines.

Here we go!

So here we are, on this blog and all.

So I have played around with a little bit of converting in the past, I feel that i am a very cut and paste converter, more of a kit basher than anything else. I've never been very good with green stuff, but im comfortable with filling gaps and spacing things out, but ive never been a sculptor.
Either way, heres my latest works and the first steps towards my Inquisimunda warband.

Inquisitor WIP

Ive given him interchangable shoulders, each with a different weapon layout. The first is his Power/Daemon sword, the second is a force weapon. The star in the middle of the weapon is being replaced with an Inquisitorial I. He is being built in a pose that alludes to him floating, his more lenient approach to the warp and the things it offers will be more apparent as i add more to his structure and base him.

Daemonhost WIP.

This is another rather simple addition, although still an ongoing one. The chains are greenstuffed to the wrists, neck and right leg. If i can only figure out how to make the bugger float id be a happy man!

Thats my input for tonight, stay smart folks, but remember....

The Inquisition is always watching.

Inquisitor Constantine Silvanus

Hailing from Terra, was recruited by the Ordo Malleus for vanquishing the Daemon Fae'Ryss during his service to the Cerulean Dragoons as a lieutenant. Now a full inquisitor, he has begun gathering the members of his warband.

The Fun Stuff

The first of my converted Beneath The Mire miniatures:
 Some scum or warriors.

And an ordo xenos inquisitor.

I've wanted an excuse to make some stuff in the "blanchitsu" style for a while and this seems to be what I've been waiting for. I've even gone as far as making a few notes on Mr Blanche's painting style gleaned from posts online and from his White Dwarf articles. Sad really.

I'll put up some pictures of them painted soon.
