The Devout & The Alien

So three new members of Klein's retinue.

Father Artemis Sline: Klein's personal confessor. He is know to exploit his position to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh and has a particular love of seafood from Oblast. He carries The Myriad Syns in which Klein records the crimes of those who appose him.

Redeemer Ryzhko: Once high-ranking Necromundian Redemptionist cultist but gave up his position to take his crusade against all things unholy to the stars. He take particular pleasure in the use of flame to "teach".

The Sanctioned Ur-Cephalopod from the Tarkine Expanse: How or why this alien was recruited/ coerced/ trained is a mystery. It is know to be an extremely powerful telekine at short ranges. Note the Inquisitional seal nailed to its shell and the seal affixing the Sanctioned Xenos Import papers authorised on Holy Terra itself.

I think I may have said that I'd be a while retuning to Inq28 stuff. Clearly you can't trust a thing I say.

The two devout are nice simple conversions that took no time and were just fun to do. The Ur-Cephalopod was fairly simple too (I just had to make the tenticles -- the pod is a sea urchin shell I got on a seaside holiday) With it I wanted to make something really alien and weird to show Klein's radical nature and something that you wouldn't seen in a 40k army.

We've also had out first game of Inq28. I GM'd a tussle between Sir K (played by Cadaver Junkie) and Commissar Skulthorpe (played by Mike T) and two cultists (played by Servitor 775). It was great to roll some D10s again and better to see that everybody had fun. There are plans for more games in the new year.

This was the short after battle report that circulated to the rest of the Beneath The Mire crew:
Klein is not happy and has vowed never to send boys to to men's work again after Skulthorpe and Sir K failed to uncover any useful information from two cultists. All that is know is that they are called the Fabled Sun (or Son) and are recruiting workers in cells. By the time Klein returned to the location where the cultists were captured any physical evidence of their plans or affiliation was gone.

Endings And Beginnings

This is Klein's whole warband poised and ready for action.

This may be the only time any dice are rolled around these models! :-)
This marks a bit of an end for this blog. Klein's warband is done and although I have plans for a couple more models and plenty more ideas, I think I'm done with Klein and his boys for now. So, I'm going to start posting more of my general hobby here.

I am very happy with how the warband turned out. They have that dark future feel and I'd like to think that thay are an ok emulation of the few John Blanche miniatures that I've been luck enough to see in real life. And I've learned how to make my stuff more grim-dark.

This is not to say there won't be more Inq28 stuff. For example this the last miniature that I finished.

I'll just not be focusing on it as much. Expect to see stuff for my armies, stuff that I've been meaning to paint for years, some terrain, some sculpting and maybe some non-GW stuff. I hope this is ok.

Klein's Arrival

Steam condensed in dramatic coils from the humid air around the lander. Twenty paces away heat from its re-entry made Warden Torst’s skin prickle beneath his already uncomfortable dress-amour.

Around him the rest of the honour-guard shifted restlessly. They thought they had better things to do and he couldn’t disagree. You can’t leave ten thousand of the sectors worst to their own devices for long and not expect some trouble. Once this pissant little duty was over there’d be more work than there should for everybody. Fights to break up, punishment to mete out and bodies to move.

Stupid fucking inquisitors and their projects. Don’t they know I have a prison to run.

The lander’s ramp thudded open and Torst snapped to attention. Here we go, he thought.

The inquisitor was the first out. All arrogance and gold amour. He stopped at the bottom of the ramp. “Who are you?” he said. Looking Torst up and down.

“Ah, Torst. Warden Torst.”

“I see. I am Inquisitor Klein. You will call me my lord.”  There was a loud crash at the top of the ramp. “Is that clear?” said Klein.

“Yes.” Torst watched a huge crate start down the ramp followed by a hunched tech priest. Klein raised an eyebrow. “Err, my lord,” managed Torst a little late.

“Good.” Klein turned to the box. “Have your men help the magos biologis with the cargo and take it to the holding pens.”

“Of course, my lord.”  Torst gestured to the other men on the landing pad.  “What’s in it?” Torst asked and instantly regretted it.

The inquisitor didn’t turn to look at the warden. He watched the men shuffle the crate off the ramp.

“The future, warden.  All our futures.”

In His name

Inquisitor Varro Klein: Veteran inquisitor and expert in non-human languages, particularly eldar standard and its dialects. Has spent most of the last hundred years studying and writing, and has only recently returned to active operations for unknown reasons. Feels that he must prove himself and his theories after so long on the sidelines.
