Making progress. Almost done, just need to bake him, do a few details, his eyes and maybe a bad-arse scar and the jobs a good 'un. Maybe...
Coments and opinions are always welcome: you do these things in a vacuum and start focus on the tiny problems and then see the whole thing as shit. I think it's going ok ;-)

WIP: Centurion and Legionnaire
Sometimes things just click and look right from the off. Other times not so much....
The last couple of weeks I've been wrestling with two models that I'm not all that happy with. Your opinions would be appreciated.
And then a late Roman republican centurion that is all kinds of "not quite right".
HELP!

First a Black Legionnaire that is too dark and has no life. Not sure what todo. Lighter loincloth thingo? More red? Less black?
And then a late Roman republican centurion that is all kinds of "not quite right".
HELP!

Belegar Ironhammer
I've got a Dwarf army. They have always been my favorite fantasy army so the last few weeks have been good for me. This is the first addition to the throng.
It's a great little (pun!) model with plenty of conversion potential as the shield and head are separate and the body has all the detail under his beard. I'm thinking some hammers and a gyrobomber would be nice too but they may not be the next project. Stay tuned for my plans :-)

Brave New... Errr, Desk
Not much of a post, I'm afraid. Just a bit of an up-date to where I'm at.
I was out early this morning to pick this old roll top desk up and sat down a did a little painting at it tonight. For the last year I've been relegated to hobbying in the the back room but with this new set up I'm back with the rest of the family. I hope that I won't feel as guilty spending all my nights toy-soldiering now. I hope.
The last few weeks it's either been too hot or I've been too tired to get anything much done. Last week I started on the wonderful new Belegar Ironhammer and I should have him done by the end of this week. Pictures soon thereafter. It's nice to add such a great model to my old dwarf army.
Not exactly sure what after that. I've some more terrain that needs to be done and I'm beginning to think about starting on a full sized army again. Oh, and there is the new Imperial Knight kit. WOW!
Like I said: not much of a post. Sorry.

The Governor Returns Finished
I think I showed this off months ago but now it's done. I think... Spent the last week re-sculpting the "hat".
I think it's turned out well. He's based on the great JB picture of a High Lord of Terra in the Codex Imperialis (p14 for those of you playing at home) but is far less bad-arse. I wanted him to look confused and scared like he'd been ripped from his throne room and found himself on a battlefield or fought over by factions of the inquisition. Frail and worn-down was what I was going for.
My plan is to cast him at some point and paint a copy -- not sure that I have the guts to paint the original.
Comments welcome.

Game 2: Muties Gone Wild
We played our second full game of Inquisitor today. We're still working out the rules (rules last remember) but I think everybody had fun.
![]() |
| Before the shooting |
Sam's (Servitor 755) mechanicus and squat inquisitor and Dean's hillbilly muties duked it out over the right to capture an astropath that had been having strange dreams and prescient visions. Zen and I took control of Astropath Killan and some tank crew under his mind control. In the end the muties dragged the squat, astropath and the mechanicus back to their lair. What they are planning to do with them is best not thought about. (If you have seen Diliverance you'll have a pretty good idea though)
![]() |
| A tanker in the thrall of the astropath Killan advances under the nose of the inquisitor |
![]() |
| The muties move in on the mechanicus before he (it?) realises that naval guns are not guns in the belly button or actually all that good. |
![]() |
| Servitor 755's squat inquisitor just before proving that squats are very fast over short distances by sprinting 40 yards across the table. |
The next game looks set to be a rescue mission with Sam vowing to bring out the big guns to get back his boys.
Did I miss anything, guys?

If anyone is interested this is the lead up text that I sent out before the game:

My Lord,
I have sent you this message as part of our pre-existing agreement. I hope that it reflects well on me in your eyes and goes some way in redeeming me.
I have been tasked with putting down the vile Quintine backed rebellion on Levant. In that capacity I am in command of the Omer 5/10th Amoured Company. In recent days my informers have been appraising me the strange condition of the units attached astropath. (As I’m sure you know, all Omer regiments now have an astropth assigned by order of the Omer Defence Squad to facilitate a speedy recall in case of another tyranid attack on that world) The astropath in question, Ty Bannor Killan, has been experiencing prescient dreams and is said to be manifesting elements from these in the waking world. His condition is thought to be worsening.
I have ordered the Omer 5/10th, and Killan, away from the fighting and are currently enroute to Bakresh and the off-world port there. At your request I will apprehend Killan and forward him to you.
Your humble servant,
General (primus) Duke Tollmesh Sol of Shile
+++Inq notes+++ My Lord: the rebellion on Levant does not seem to be of Quintine origin. It appears to be an internal Shileite conflict that Sol is not privy to. It could be speculated that the conflict is aimed at Sol himself but, as of yet, there have been no evidence to that effect. The cause of Killan’s disorder is unknown but probably unlinked to the Levantine conflict or our primary quarry. I would advise your Lordship to take up Sol’s offer and take the astropath into our custody. It is surely better that he is destroyed than fall into the Sun’s (or Son’s) hands or worse into the hands of an inquisitorial rival. --KP +++
The scenario had three tankers come on from one table edge with the astropath secretly with one of them. As the players came close to the tankers they made a Sg tests to detect where the astropath was. The tankers by themselves were just taken out of play once he was found.

The Devout & The Alien
So three new members of Klein's retinue.
Father Artemis Sline: Klein's personal confessor. He is know to exploit his position to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh and has a particular love of seafood from Oblast. He carries The Myriad Syns in which Klein records the crimes of those who appose him.
Redeemer Ryzhko: Once high-ranking Necromundian Redemptionist cultist but gave up his position to take his crusade against all things unholy to the stars. He take particular pleasure in the use of flame to "teach".
The Sanctioned Ur-Cephalopod from the Tarkine Expanse: How or why this alien was recruited/ coerced/ trained is a mystery. It is know to be an extremely powerful telekine at short ranges. Note the Inquisitional seal nailed to its shell and the seal affixing the Sanctioned Xenos Import papers authorised on Holy Terra itself.
I think I may have said that I'd be a while retuning to Inq28 stuff. Clearly you can't trust a thing I say.
The two devout are nice simple conversions that took no time and were just fun to do. The Ur-Cephalopod was fairly simple too (I just had to make the tenticles -- the pod is a sea urchin shell I got on a seaside holiday) With it I wanted to make something really alien and weird to show Klein's radical nature and something that you wouldn't seen in a 40k army.
We've also had out first game of Inq28. I GM'd a tussle between Sir K (played by Cadaver Junkie) and Commissar Skulthorpe (played by Mike T) and two cultists (played by Servitor 775). It was great to roll some D10s again and better to see that everybody had fun. There are plans for more games in the new year.
This was the short after battle report that circulated to the rest of the Beneath The Mire crew:
Klein is not happy and has vowed never to send boys to to men's work again after Skulthorpe and Sir K failed to uncover any useful information from two cultists. All that is know is that they are called the Fabled Sun (or Son) and are recruiting workers in cells. By the time Klein returned to the location where the cultists were captured any physical evidence of their plans or affiliation was gone.
